Open Access and Printmaking Facilities

St Barnabas press offers two options to its users:
  1. The membership fee is £55.00 inc.vat per year (with concessions available at £42.50 inc.vat per year). Temporary Membership is available for £35.00 inc.vat for 3 months. Open-access charges apply on top of the membership fee, at £9/hr inc.vat, and include inks and general workshop materials. However, specialist papers and printing materials are not included (metal plates, lithography stones, silk screens etc. can be rented/purchased  from the studio as required and is prized according to size) .
  2. Key-holder Membership: Key-holder Membership with 24-hour access costs £120 per month, with a minimum commitment of 3 months.  Materials can be conveniently purchased from the studio. a storage draw is also included.

Dimensions of Equipment in the Workshop:

  • Relief Printing:
    • Columbian Press: 20″ x 30″
    • Albion Press: 20″ x 30″
    • Etching Press (for larger relief prints): 80 cm by 160 cm
  • Screen Printing:
    • Three presses are available, plus four bench-top sizes:
      • Smallest: max print size 30″ x 40″
      • Medium: max print size 60″ x 40″
      • Largest: max print size 1000 mm x 2200 mm
  • Etching:
    • Three presses are available:
      • Two presses with max print size on each of 26″ x 60″
      • 17th century double Imperial etching press 80 cm wide
      • Two portable presses for outreach projects
  • Lithography:
    • Small stone direct litho press half Imperial
    • Larger stone direct litho press Imperial
  • Darkroom:
    • Photo-print processes include:
      • Indirect and direct photo-stencil screen-printing up to 2.5 m x 1.5 m
      • Photo-etching and photo-relief printing
      • Photo-lithography
      • Cyanotype
    • Digital printing:
      • Epson 7600 inkjet printer: 620 mm wide x up to 5 m long
      • Canon ipf 8100 12 color inkjet printer: 1118 mm wide x 16 m
